A long time series with the goal of getting everyone exposed to all that city and county parks have to offer runners, the Cross Country series is coming back for 2015.

The format for this series is to meet every Wednesday for eight consecutive weeks while we visit eight different parks/trails. Each group run will begin at 6 pm sharp and BGRR will be providing iced down bottled water, a race clock (where needed), and some much needed motivation to leg out a workout during your work week.

Again, this year, everyone that participates in the series we be eligible to win a few fun running items (including some club tech shirts) at the end of the eight week series. We'll have a sign-in sheet for each week and for each week you make it, you get an additional entry into a raffle we will have at the conclusion of the series. We're not talking free pairs of shoes, but we will have some nice swag as a reward for coming out and running with us.




Below is the schedule, with a bit of information about each group run.


Wednesday, July 1st - Kereiakes Park 5K Course

We'll be running everyone's favorite (heavy on the sarcasm) 5K course on the Carl Kell trail around Keriakes Park.




Wednesday, July 8th - Phil Moore Park

This is a course most area middle / high school runners are familiar with, but most adults are not. This course is getting better with age. This is one of the more interesting running trails in BG, Warren County.


Wednesday, July 15th - Chuck T. Crume Park

Also referred to as "Narnia" by locals, this little park remains hidden and relatively unknown to most people in the area. This is a mostly dirt/grass single track trail that opens up to wide grass routes on the main area of the trail. This is a really cool, little trail if you have never experienced it before.






Wednesday, July 22nd - Preston Miller Park

We'll incorporate the concrete 1-mile loop around the park area with some of the original BG Greenway that starts at the park and runs towards Warren Central High School and back.

Wednesday, July 29th - Low Hollow Trail (Weldon Peete Park) Trail Run

Our second trail run of the series, Low Hollow is a great 2.4 mile loop trail that caters to mountain bikers and trail runners alike. Bring real trail shoes to run in for this one if you have them. If you don't, you can still get around this trail in standard running shoes just fine.

Wednesday, August 5th - Ephram White Park

The biggest running trail in Bowling Green, this park located out by Warren East High School is entirely gravel and a good hard packed running surface that continues to get better every year.

Wednesday, August 12th - Weldon Peete Park Mile Time Trials

We are going to mix it up with a true workout this particular week. We'll bring the race clock and the stop watches and see what everyone has in them as we mark off a mile loop on the paved paths at Weldon Peete Park. Be ready to do some work.




Wednesday, August 19th - Kereiakes Park 8K Course

The 2015 Cross Country Series wraps up back where it started at Kereiakes Park. This 8K course is what the collegiate runners use and it is an entirely different beast than what you are used to on the 5K course. A lot of people don't know the course to be able to use it for workouts. Come out and see what the collegiate runners put themselves through.


We want to encourage any and all of our club members to participate, but this is absolutely open to non-club members as well. (Only actual club members will be eligible for the raffle prizes, however.) We'll have a physical waiver form for anyone not officially registered in the club to sign before participating. The Cross Country Series is a great way to mix up your routine and check out all that the city of Bowling Green and Warren County have to offer.
